NHC-complexes as heterogeneous catalysts
Though research on NHC-complexes as homogenous catalysts has long been at the forefront of catalytic research, their heterogeneous counterpart has been a neglected scaffold. Heterogeneous NHC-complexes have been accessed for very limited applications particularly in C-C bond forming reactions. Catalysts of this type are more stable thanthose that are unsupported, and even more insight into this fieldof research is necessary as applications and requirements of these NHC-based catalysts continue to multiply with particular pressure from commercialinterests. Our activities in this field span synthesis and catalytic applications of these entities ranging from NHC ligand heterogenization to olefin polymerization/oxidation reactions.
