Scientist-C : Dr. Manasa Kongot
E: [email protected]

Research Interests
Manasa’s doctoral research work was mainly focussed on the lookout for sustainable drug candidates and involved the investigation of newly synthesized coordination compounds of vanadium(IV/V), manganese(II), iron(III), cobalt(III), nickel(II) and copper(II) for their biological activity studies with regard to their therapeutic potentials and protein interactions. She has exposure and gained experience in synthesizing biocompatible ligand systems and their transition metal complexes, characterise them using usual analytical techniques and trace elemental analysis techniques. Solution studies of the therapeutically active complexes to understand the transport mechanism and speciation of such compounds in biological media were also a part of her work which involved pH titration studies and study of the effect of biological macromolecules such as proteins. Preliminary metalloproteomic studies, in particular with serum proteins HSA and BSA using multi-spectroscopic techniques is also her area of expertise. Her cumulative research experience have resulted in many publications in referred journals and paper presentations in conferences, of which many have earned best presentation awards. She has also published a feature article on a science magazine 'Science Reporter' by the NISCAIR, India for popularisation of Science among the laymen in India. With working experience in individual as well as team environment, she has good exposure in drafting proposals for scientific funding and mentoring junior scholars and masters students for their dissertations.
