Nanoparticles and mesostructure materials : Laveena, Swetha Rani, Alamelu Ramaswamy & Jyothi
We are interested in nature and structure of the oxide nano particles that enable catalytic process. The nano particles are synthesized and modified for the organization of size and shape so as to develop new one dimensional and two dimensional functionalized nano particles with active sites either in pores or in the size wall of the support to cause catalysis. Membranes are functionalized with amines or nitrates for creating acidic or basic conditions and then doped with oxide nano particles. Doping by hybridization or grafting of oxides or metallic nanoparticles in well defined meso/micro structure membranes enhances filtration techniques, antifouling and antimicrobial activities. Metal oxides are developed by various well known routes such as combustion, solgel, ionothermal and hydrothermal methods.
